Yak Academy

Yak Academy is a play-based language immersion school for young children in Redondo Beach, teaching Spanish, Mandarin and French through songs, games, stories and arts and crafts. Spanish is the core program, with classes for kids in several age groups from 10 months through 12 years, and the school says children absorb the language as the language of the classroom rather than as a separate subject.

Classes are grouped into Baby & Me, toddler, preschool and elementary levels, and enrollment is open year-round. Families from Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes and El Segundo come to the school at 553 N. Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach. Small class sizes, a native Spanish-speaking instructor and a founder who leads the school make up the staff, and the school offers seasonal celebrations and summer camps. Tours can be scheduled by phone or email before enrolling, and spaces are noted as limited.
