Adler's Design Center & Hardware

Adler's Design Center & Hardware is a longtime hardware store on Wickenden Street in Providence that sells tools, paint, decorative cabinet hardware, window treatments and housewares. It is known for its service department, which repairs and cleans screen windows and doors, Miele vacuums and lamps, cuts keys, rekeys locks and sharpens tools, knives and lawn mowers. The store has been run by the Adler family since it opened in 1919 as an Army-Navy surplus shop.

The store is open Monday through Saturday, and the design center keeps shorter hours than the main store. Adler's also supplies real estate developers, property maintenance companies, universities, contractors, churches and community centers, and it has been a founder and major distributor of the C2 Paint line. Customers who need repairs can ask the staff for advice on home fixes before buying anything.
