The Music Hall

The Music Hall is a nonprofit arts center that opened in 1878 as a vaudeville theater and now runs two stages in downtown Portsmouth. The 895-seat Victorian Historic Theater hosts concerts, comedy, dance and theater, while the 120-seat modern space handles smaller performances and events. Programming also includes film screenings, literary events, talks and school-day education series.

Tickets are sold through the box office and online, and a membership program offers film society and members club options. The Members Club is a speakeasy-style space connected to the Historic Theater by an internal passageway. Historic tours, gift cards and private rentals of the spaces are also available, and the venue welcomes more than 130,000 patrons a year.
