Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe

Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe is a seafood restaurant in downtown Portsmouth, known for fresh fish, a dedicated raw bar with rotating oysters, and nightly seafood specials. Longtime favorites include Haddock Piccata and Linguine & Clams, alongside seasonal dishes from Executive Chef Harley Smith. The restaurant opened in 2000 and sits two blocks from Market Square.

Reservations are recommended and can be made through Resy for parties of up to five, while larger groups call the restaurant directly. Walk-ins are welcome when space allows, though waits can build during busy times. The restaurant also hosts private and semi-private dining for groups of up to 80, and Tuesday evening Shuck-A-Buck oyster specials run from October through June. Takeout is offered on a case-by-case basis, and several municipal lots and garages are within a short walk.
