Specialty food shops in Philadelphia

Specialty food shops sell foods you may not find at a standard grocery store, from imported pantry staples to prepared meals you can eat on the spot or take home. Many of them also offer deli sandwiches, salads, hot and cold food, gourmet coffee, and groceries, so you can pick up a quick lunch or stock up for the week. Some carry gift cards, greeting cards, postcards, and international publications, which makes them handy for last-minute gifts. When choosing one, call ahead to ask what they are known for that day and whether they can prepare a platter or special order if you need one for a gathering. Check the hours on the listing before you go, since smaller shops often close early or on certain days of the week.
