Kindy's

Kindy's is a Christmas specialty store in South Philadelphia that operates as the factory outlet of Brite Star Manufacturing Company, a maker of holiday decorations that has manufactured and imported products since 1932. Shoppers find Christmas lights, party and novelty lights, lighted décor, flameless candles, wreaths and garlands, and Christmas trees with tree trimmings, stacked on shelves that run floor to ceiling.

The outlet opened in 1980 at the request of neighbors near the plant and later became a holiday-season store run by brothers Sandy and John Kinderman. Merchandise is sold at factory-direct prices, and the company also takes online orders through its website. Many people treat the trip as a yearly holiday tradition.
