Its best-known program is the Crisis Nursery, which provides child abuse prevention through emergency intervention and respite care, crisis counseling, and support for families under stress from domestic violence, parenting challenges, mental health issues, and similar situations. The organization also runs a Parent Education Program with monthly parent nights, in-home visits from parent educators, and Nurturing Parenting classes.

Children can stay up to 72 hours depending on the situation. Families are often referred by community agencies. The center also accepts new diapers, formula, clothing, and educational toys for infants and children. Crittenton Centers is located on West John H Gwynn Jr Avenue in Peoria.
