Carter & Rye

Carter & Rye makes sweet and savory hand pies with flaky, buttery crusts and fillings that change weekly. Two sweet and two savory flavors are served hot each week, and additional flavors are sold frozen with heating instructions. Flavors range from brown sugar cinnamon and sausage, egg and cheese to bolder pairings like pepper jelly cream cheese and prosciutto with mozzarella and cantaloupe jam.

The shop on Center Street in Omaha's Hanscom Park is open weekend mornings, Friday and Saturday until noon and Sunday until noon, and the flavors of the week are posted on Facebook and Instagram on Thursdays. Come early for a favorite flavor. The bakery also sells at the Omaha Farmers Market at Aksarben Village on Sundays from mid-May through mid-October, and it takes catering orders for events such as weddings. Each pie is made by hand from scratch.
