Essence

Essence is a beauty and wellness salon in Old Saybrook offering hair styling and a Wellness Center for spa treatments. The salon works with several professional hair care lines, including Pureology, Moroccanoil and G.M. Collin, and also carries Glo Skin Beauty products. Its founder, Frank Jarrabeck, describes the space as a soothing and nurturing place.

Hair stylists are often booked several weeks ahead, and spa appointments are best made about five days in advance. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice, and guests should arrive 10 minutes early. Children under 18 are not permitted in the Wellness Center, and cell phones are not allowed there. Robes, sandals and towels are provided, and no special attire is needed. The shop is on Main Street in Old Saybrook, a short walk from North Cove Outfitters.
