MADTA

MADTA, short for Marion-Alachua Dog Training Association, is a volunteer nonprofit club founded in 1981 that trains dogs of any breed in obedience, rally, agility, scent work and conformation. It is an American Kennel Club affiliate and holds AKC trials, matches, seminars and demonstrations, along with cookouts, garage sales and holiday parties.

You do not need to be a club member to join the training classes, and the instructors are volunteers who can answer questions about a dog's behavior. Open floor training runs three days a week and agility run-throughs are held Tuesday evenings. Members can rent training rings, and the club's facility is at 6600 NW 3rd Place in Ocala. A visiting chiropractor sees dogs onsite on the last Wednesday of each month for a fee.
