About Monticello Golf

The story

Monticello Golf Club is a historic golf course founded in 1911, and one of the oldest existing golf clubs in Eastern Iowa. The course is known for its timeless charm alongside modernized facilities, with signature holes including the over-the-pond Par 3 8 and the tricky tree tunnel on Par 5 3. The clubhouse serves a menu of starters, salads, baskets and sandwiches, including cheeseburgers, a hand-breaded tenderloin and a crispy chicken sandwich.

The club welcomes first-time visitors and returning guests, and reservations are encouraged for tee times. The course sits between the Jones County fairgrounds and the Maquoketa River, at 712 N. Maple Street in Monticello. The clubhouse keeps shorter hours in the off-season, opening afternoons from Wednesday through Friday.
