ZABS Place

ZABS Place is a nonprofit thrift boutique in Matthews that trains young adults with special needs for jobs and the life skills that go with them. The shop sells clothing, housewares, furniture, books and games, and trainees take part in store work such as pricing clothes and ringing up sales. A separate incubator helps local young adults with special needs turn their skills into products sold in the store.

Shoppers can find outfits, home goods and family activities here, and the shop has been open since 2014. Donations of clothing, housewares and furniture help fund the training, so customers and donors both play a part in the mission. Volunteers can share their expertise with trainees or connect the store with local employers looking to hire. The shop serves Matthews and the wider Charlotte area.
