About Tav on the Ave

The story

Tav on the Ave is a long-running sports bar in Mankato, known for buffalo wings and its signature burgers, sandwiches and roll-ups. Brothers Christopher and Patrick Person opened it in 1988 after remodeling the former Stone Toad, and the tavern is credited as the first in Mankato to serve buffalo wings. Waffle fries and drink specials also draw regulars.

The bar has a patio and a Studio space, and guests can join a waitlist for dining in or order online. Gift cards are sold, and the menu includes a kids' menu, happy hour and dessert options. It sits on Madison Avenue on the east side of town, and it is open daily until 11 PM or midnight on Friday and Saturday.
