Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream

Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream makes super-premium ice cream in its own plant on Madison's east side and scoops it at shoppes around town. Its best-known flavor is Zanzibar Chocolate, first released in 2001, and the company also makes a line of vegan desserts. Its Strawberry Hibiscus Italian Ice won a North American Ice Cream Association award. The company traces its start to a candy and ice cream shop on Monona Drive in 1962 and is still run by the Deadman family.

Shoppes are open on Atwood Avenue, State Street, and at Sequoya Commons, with other locations in Middleton, Fitchburg, and Sun Prairie. Pints can be ordered for shipping, and the company supplies wholesale pints to independent restaurants and scoop shops, along with catering. The ice cream is made with real Wisconsin dairy and all-natural sugars.
