18-hole course with century-old oaks and five lakes17211 W 135th St, Lockport, IL
Big Run Golf Club is an 18-hole public golf course in Lockport, opened in 1930 and originally designed by C.H. Muelenford and Harry Smead, with a later redesign by Dick Nugent. The course is known for hundreds of tall oak trees, some centuries old, along with five lakes and Long Run Creek. Water comes into play on 8 of the 18 holes, and the course is heavily bunkered, making it challenging but enjoyable for golfers.
Tee times can be booked online, and the golf shop takes calls about course availability and conditions. Gift certificates are sold in the golf shop or by phone. The shop is open weekdays from 6:30 AM and weekends from 6:00 AM until sundown, and the club has a bar and grill that serves lunch at the turn. The course is at 17211 W 135th St in Lockport.
