MILKTOOTH

Arlene's by Milktooth is the current name of the Fountain Square restaurant that opened as Milktooth in 2014. It keeps the same brunch menu and adds meat and three plates. The breakfast menu rotates with what is in season, ranging from oysters and ceviche to loaded grits and Dutch baby pancakes. Drinks are made in house, with syrups partly inspired by flavors from the garden, and espresso is pulled on a Modbar system.

Carryout is the main way to get food right now. The restaurant sits on Virginia Avenue in a former automobile garage, and its large garage doors often stay open in warm weather. The place is run by members of the Brooks family along with longtime staff, and the dining room doubles as a rotating gallery for local artists.
