Mental Health & Substance Abuse Counseling

Holistic Educational Rehabilitation Center, known as HERC, offers counseling for mental health challenges, substance abuse and addiction. Its programs include individual and family counseling, intensive outpatient treatment, trauma-informed therapy, and spiritual counseling and inner healing. Medication management and dual recovery services for clients with co-occurring diagnoses are also available. The center has operated since 1999.

Services are open to anyone seeking help, and the staff includes licensed counselors. The intensive outpatient program meets nine hours a week, and the center also handles substance abuse assessments, drug screening and DWI defense education. A crisis line runs 24 hours a day, with telehealth available. HERC is located in Gretna, Louisiana, and accepts Medicaid, Bayou Health, several commercial plans and Blue Cross Blue Shield, along with sliding fee scales for cash payment.
