The Walker thrift store is run by Mel Trotter Ministries, a Grand Rapids nonprofit working to end homelessness in West Michigan. It sells gently used clothing, shoes, toys, books, furniture, small appliances and household items, and the proceeds support the ministry's programs for people facing hunger and homelessness.
The store is open Monday through Saturday, and donations can be dropped off during those hours or in a box at the building after hours. Donors can ask for a receipt for what they give. The ministry also picks up large furniture and bulk donations from homes or offices, but it does not accept mattresses, cribs, car seats, or building materials. The store is on Alpine Avenue in Walker.
