Comprenew

Comprenew is a nonprofit electronics refurbisher and recycler that handles retired computers, phones and other electronic devices, along with secure IT asset disposition for businesses. Its services include certified electronics recycling, hard drive destruction and data security, mobile shredding and onsite services, vape device recycling, and refurbished electronics for sale. The organization was founded in 1986 as a for-profit mainframe refurbisher and became a nonprofit in 2004, and it holds both R2 and e-Stewards certifications.

Businesses can schedule a pickup, and the organization offers transportation to bring unwanted electronics in from customers, with nationwide pickup and logistics available. Comprenew also runs a downtown Grand Rapids location at 629 Ionia Ave SW and a Plainfield store on the city's northeast side, where devices are sold and repaired. Community partners that teach computer skills can buy equipment at steep discounts.
