Montessori preschool and pre-K with a large school garden2035 6509 38th Ave., Gig Harbor, WA
Arletta Montessori is a Montessori preschool and pre-K program that serves children in mixed-age classrooms. The curriculum covers self-care, grace and courtesy, art and music, math, botany and zoology, and language development. A garden is central to the program, with children planting, tending and harvesting crops such as strawberries, squash, cherry tomatoes and pumpkins, then cooking with them.
The school is run by founder and owner Cheryl LaPlant and offers a private visit to see the classrooms before enrolling. Children spend part of every day outside, rain or shine, and the school has a secure outdoor classroom with weather stations and wildlife study units. It is located in Gig Harbor, just minutes from Highway 16 off Wollochet Drive.
