Maine Beer Company brews beer in Freeport and is best known for Peeper, the Spring Peeper Ale the brewery started with. Two brothers opened the business in Portland in 2009 with a one-barrel system, and it moved to Freeport in 2013 for more room for brewing and fermenting.
The tasting room is open every day, with later hours on Friday and Saturday, and the bottle shop opens earlier in the morning. The brewery's former production space became a larger tasting room in 2019, with a patio and a pizza oven. Maine Beer Company is a member of 1% for the Planet and gives 1% of its sales to environmental nonprofits.
