The Oxbow

The Oxbow is a British chippy on the banks of the Saluda River, known for beer-battered cod and chunky chips served on paper, with homemade tartar sauce. The menu is small and changes often, with a Pie Platter whose filling rotates every two weeks, a smoked fish spread, curry chips and sticky toffee pudding that appears on every service. Ray and Alyssa run the place, with Ray cooking the British food.

Fish and chips are served Thursday through Saturday from 4 to 8pm, with a bar and snack bar open Saturday afternoon and Sunday. It is casual counter service: order at the counter, grab a seat, and expect a queue on busy nights. Groups of eight or more can reserve, and takeaway is available during regular service. Dishes can sell out, so come early for the fish. Gluten-free batter needs 24 hours' notice, and the kitchen shares space with cross-contact possible. The restaurant sits in Easley, a short walk from the river and the Saluda Outdoor Center.
