About Fresh Ayer Sports

The story

Fresh Ayer Sports is a bicycle and sporting goods shop in Ayer that sells new and used bikes, fishing tackle and live bait, and disc golf discs. The shop also repairs bicycles, sharpens hockey and figure skates, and does custom trophies and engraving. Owner Chuck King has been in the bicycle business for over 40 years, starting in wholesale bike sales in Waltham before buying a small shop in 1985.

The shop is in the Devens Shopping Plaza at 210 W. Main Street and sits near the Nashua River Rail Trail, so riders can stop in for a cold drink or snack at the picnic tables after a ride. Shop hours run Tuesday through Friday and Saturday, with a shorter Sunday schedule. Fresh Ayer Sports also offers custom apparel and a food cart and live band for events.
