Detroit's oldest bar, running since 187600 AM Address Two Way Inn 17897 Mount Elliott Street, Detroit, MI

The Two Way Inn is a bar on Mount Elliott Street in Detroit, widely considered the city's oldest bar. It was established in 1876 and has been in the Malak family since 1973, now run by Mary Aganowski, the daughter of Harry Malak. The building has a long history as a post office, general store, saloon, inn and dance hall, and the bell hanging in the center of the bar is rung when someone buys a round for the house.
Mary Aganowski cooks homemade comfort food on Wednesdays and Thursdays, including cottage pie, chili, sloppy joes and kielbasa with sauerkraut. Once the batch is gone, it's gone, and there are no menus or reservations. The Two Way is on the corner of Mount Elliott and Nevada, and its hours run later on weekends, with the bar open until midnight Friday and Saturday.
