Cafe Madrid is a Dallas Spanish restaurant and tapas bar that has been open for 36 years. The menu centers on Spanish classics such as paella, fried calamari, shrimp in garlic and grilled quail, and the wine list includes 85 varieties of Spanish wines and sherries. The room is cozy and intimate, modeled on the small cafes of Madrid.

Reservations are taken by phone, and a large group of 15 or more needs a pre-set menu arranged ahead with the manager. The dress code is casual. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 5 to 6 pm, and the first Friday of each month brings flamenco dancing with tapas, wine and sangria from 8 to 10 pm. A private dining room is available for parties, meetings and special events. The restaurant is at 4501 Travis St in Dallas, one block south of Knox.
