Steel String Brewery

Steel String Brewery is a small production brewery founded in 2011 that serves Carrboro and distributes locally. Its beers draw on the agricultural bounty of the North Carolina Piedmont, using modern American brewing styles with a funky, free-spirited streak. Many of the ingredients come from its own land.

You can try the beers in the Carrboro taproom or at the production space on Pluck Farm, a 57-acre property in Mebane about 15 minutes away. The farm grows fruit, herbs and cut flowers, and it has public walking trails, native plant gardens and a 22-hole disc golf course. Food trucks visit regularly, and the farm also hosts private events and sells flower arrangements during the growing season.
