Orchestra Iowa is a professional symphony orchestra founded in 1923 that performs across eastern Iowa. Its 68 professional musicians present more than 180 performances a season, from classical masterworks and chamber concerts to opera, ballet, pops and family programs. Many concerts are broadcast statewide on Iowa Public Radio and Iowa PBS.
The orchestra is led by Music Director Timothy Hankewich, and it runs an education program and community engagement work alongside its concerts. Tickets, subscriptions and gift certificates are available, and the group also operates Opus Concert Café, a small-scale venue next to the Paramount Theatre in downtown Cedar Rapids, which can be rented for events. The orchestra is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
