The Fitness Syndicate is a independent gym that focuses on functional fitness, with a dedicated turf room for group classes using TRX and other training tools. The gym offers personal training, group classes, and memberships, and it says it is not a franchise. Its owner, Brooks, is on site daily.

Monthly membership is $35 a month with a one-time joining fee that may apply, or $385 for a year paid up front. Day passes are $10, and guests can come in with a member for $5. Members get 24-hour gym access, and the owner invites people to call to set up an appointment or drop in. The gym is at 6711 N. Glenwood St. in Garden City.
