Armour House is a neighborhood brasserie and raw bar in downtown Birmingham, known for dry-aged beef, a seafood tower and oysters from across the country. European techniques meet bold Southern ingredients on a menu that runs from small plates like hamachi crudo, beef tartare and crispy pork belly to entrees such as Australian Wagyu beef tenderloin and seared Gulf fish. The cocktail list is also a draw.
Reservations can be made by phone or online, and valet parking is complimentary. The restaurant occupies the historic Armour & Company meatpacking building on 1st Avenue North. Pogo Cocktail Bar, a sister concept, sits just below with its own evening atmosphere. Aperitif hour runs Monday through Thursday with $1 off draft and bottled beer, wine by the glass and well liquor.
