Abiding Place Counseling is a counseling practice led by Dr. Donna Sargent, a Licensed Professional Counselor with 21 years of experience. Her work uses cognitive behavioral therapy and holistic counseling for issues such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, work-life adjustments, couples' concerns and parenting challenges. Individual counseling is offered to women, men, children and adolescents, and couples can seek help with communication, conflict resolution and premarital counseling.
The practice also provides Employee Assistance Program services for companies and runs Trans Parenting seminars for divorcing families, held on the first Saturday of each month, with emergency sessions considered case by case. Dr. Sargent can also facilitate corporate, church or educational seminars, which need to be booked at least 30 days ahead. The office is at 105 Vulcan Road in Homewood, but starting July 1 sessions are virtual or by telehealth only, so call (205) 410-9436 to arrange an appointment.
