Modern Mexican cooking built around heirloom corn and mezcal

Austin Tex-Mex with home-style roots dating to 1954Austin, TX

Maudie's Tex-Mex runs six Austin restaurants serving Tex-Mex dishes made by hand, including queso diablo, guacamole, flautitas de pollo and nachos, along with margaritas and cold beer. The story begins in 1954 with Maudie Hamilton Wilson's home-style cafe, known for biscuits and gravy and chicken and dumplings. After new owners took over in 1993, the cafe became a Tex-Mex spot that several generations of Austin families have kept coming back to.
Catering is available for receptions, weddings, corporate events, luncheons and dinner parties, with buffet service and full bar options. Each location offers online ordering and large to-go orders, and gift cards can be purchased through the website. Locations include spots on Lamar, Brodie Lane, Capital of Texas Highway and Shops Parkway, so most neighbors have one within a short drive.
