Matt's El Rancho

Matt's El Rancho is a Tex-Mex restaurant on South Lamar that has been serving Austin since 1952. It is known for sizzling beef and chicken fajitas, Bob Armstrong Dip, cheese and beef enchiladas, carne guisada, and tamales, with scratch-made tortillas and chips and a mesquite-grilled steak and seafood menu. The family still makes the tortillas, chips and enchiladas by hand from the recipes of founder Janie Martinez.

The restaurant serves lunch and dinner and offers pickup, with online ordering available and gift cards sold on its site. It is a longtime stop for locals and visitors alike, and it seats more than 500 guests on a typical day. The restaurant sits at 2613 S Lamar in Austin's South Lamar area.
