Rescue, rehabilitation and release of native Texas wildlife811 E. 13th Street, Austin, TX

Austin Wildlife Rescue is a nonprofit that rehabilitates and releases orphaned, injured, and sick native Texas wildlife. It takes in songbirds, raptors, opossums, raccoons, cottontail rabbits, squirrels, reptiles and more, and it has operated since 1977. Its public hotline also answers wildlife questions from neighbors.
Animals can be dropped off at the Austin intake center during open hours, 9am to 4pm daily, with no appointment needed. Staff ring the front doorbell at the temporary location just off I-35 after a recent move. Animals are moved to the Elgin rehabilitation center each evening, and the group cannot pick up or transport animals. Domestic animals, adult deer, and non-native species are not accepted, and the centers are not open to the public for viewing. Care is provided at no cost to the community.
