Valor & Violet

Valor & Violet is a hair salon known for color work, especially balayage and hand-painted highlights, along with haircuts, extensions and perms. The team uses Aveda and Bumble and Bumble products and also offers lash extensions, facial waxing and gel manicures. Owners Kari and Joshua both started out as stylists.

Color is priced with a base labor charge plus a product usage charge that depends on the look, and every color service starts with a free consultation. Stylists work at different levels, so listed prices are base rates and can run higher with a more senior stylist. Appointments can be booked online or by phone at the Ames salon on Main Street, and there is a second location in downtown Des Moines.
