The Bike Shak

The Bike Shak is a full-service bike shop in York that has operated since 2010, starting as a repair-only shop and growing into a place that sells new bikes and builds custom ones. Its repair work covers complete tune-ups, flat tire repair, wheel truing and building, and brake and derailleur adjustments. The shop works on all brands and types of bikes, including e-bikes, road, gravel, mountain, beach cruisers and kids' bikes.

The shop also carries parts, accessories, car racks, apparel and sports nutrition items. Mechanics go over the whole bike with riders before and after the work, and the shop describes its atmosphere as laid-back and non-intimidating, a place where riders of any level can hang out and talk cycling. It's open weekday evenings and Saturday mornings and early afternoons.
