Thrift stores funding free job training and placement3044 3035 Prairie Street, SW Grandville, MI
Goodwill of Greater Grand Rapids is a nonprofit that sells donated goods in its thrift stores and uses the proceeds to fund no-cost job training and placement services for people with barriers to employment. It was formed in 1966 by local community leaders and United Way officials to serve Kent County, and it is a member of Goodwill Industries International. The organization says about 90 cents of every dollar spent in its stores goes toward those programs.
Donations can be dropped off, or a pickup can be scheduled through a partner, ReSupply, for a fee that is not tax deductible. The Grandville store is at 3035 Prairie Street SW, and the Jenison location and an outlet store are also open. Goodwill of Greater Grand Rapids also runs an employment center on Sparks Drive SE in Grand Rapids.
