Skipwith Academy

Skipwith Academy is an early childhood education provider offering infant care, toddler and preschool classes, Montessori programs for older preschoolers, junior kindergarten, before and after school care, and summer camps. Placement is based on each child's age, prior learning, maturity and developmental stage, with a curriculum aimed at social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth. The academy has been in early childhood education in the Richmond area since 1996.

The school runs a network of locations across the Richmond, Virginia area, including Ashland, Colonial Heights, Mechanicsville, Midlothian, Chester and Richmond. Its anchor school is a Tudor-style mansion built in 1927 on land purchased in 1890. Teachers follow individualized training plans with periodic assessments, and families can start enrollment online or request information for a specific location.
