Independence Ranch

Independence Ranch runs guided wild hog hunts on its ranch in Waelder, with night hunts, walk and stalk hunts, and deer hunts also on the schedule. The ranch has been in business since 2002 and sells packages from three-hour hunts to one-day, two-day and three-day trips, plus a bachelor party package. It also handles wild hog processing, sausage and butchering, and taxidermy.

Meals and lodging are included in many packages, with a bunkhouse or a private cabin upgrade available. The lodge has recliners, pool tables and a gift shop for forgotten gear. Staff give a safety briefing before each hunt, and the site recommends completing a state hunter safety course first. Prices are posted online, and the ranch says there are no hidden charges once you arrive. Reservations are made by calling or texting the ranch, and it is about an hour from Austin.
