UAW

UAW is a labor union whose members work across North America in nearly every sector of the economy, from automakers and small manufacturers to universities, hospitals and nonprofits. It has more than 400,000 active members and more than 580,000 retired members in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, organized into more than 600 local unions. Its core work is bargaining contracts and supporting workers who want to form a union at their workplace.

Workers thinking about joining can reach the organizing department by phone or through an online form, and an organizer follows up with them. The form asks for employer details and whether another union is already active there. Current members can update their contact information and get member updates through the union's site. The national headquarters is Solidarity House in Detroit, Michigan.
