Pearl's Place

Pearl's Place is a 501(c)(3) dog rescue that takes the animals other rescues often turn away, including dogs with severe skin and coat conditions, seniors, special needs dogs, long-term shelter residents and strays. It began in February 2021 in empty boarding kennels that had been idle after a grooming business shut down during COVID, and it is named for a yellow lab who was rescued from a shelter the day before she was scheduled to be euthanized.

Skin and coat treatment is the core of the work. Dogs receive medicated baths, ozone therapy and products matched to each condition, with veterinary guidance and a qualified pet aesthetician on staff. Every dog in care is vaccinated, microchipped, spayed or neutered and housed in temperature-controlled space. Adoptable dogs are listed on Petfinder, and the rescue is in Temple, Texas, though it is relocating because the city is taking its property for a water tower, so callers should phone or email before visiting.
