Overseas Shipholding Group

Overseas Shipholding Group moves crude oil and refined petroleum products by sea for oil companies, refiners and traders in the United States and abroad. Founded in 1948, it operates a fleet of oil tankers and tank barges, and it supports the Jones Act, the law that requires domestic vessels to be US built, US owned and US flagged. The company says it employs American mariners.

The Tampa office handles ship management and company operations, with staff ashore and at sea. Careers include shoreside jobs and seagoing positions, and the company offers scholarships. Its customers are large energy firms rather than individuals, so most neighbors will reach it for jobs, scholarships or company news.
