Smoke & Meat BBQ

Smoke & Meat BBQ serves Central Texas-style barbecue, slow-smoked over local oak and sliced to order. Brisket, pulled pork, spare ribs and house-made sausages come as plates or by the pound, with sides such as collard greens, mac and cheese and potato salad made in-house. The rubs and sauces are made in-house too, and the sliced Genova milk bread is the one main item brought in.

The shop is open Thursday through Sunday from 11 until the meat sells out, so arriving early is worth it. Orders are taken in person or by phone, with no online ordering or delivery, and catering is paused for now. Vacuum-sealed BBQ to reheat at home is sold from the meat case. The restaurant is set in a century-old meat market in Stockton's oldest commercial neighborhood.
