Southern Structural Steel

Southern Structural Steel is a structural steel fabricator that builds steel-framed buildings across Virginia and northeast North Carolina. The company fabricates structural and miscellaneous steel and can also install it, along with joists, decking, stairs and railings, for projects such as retail stores, warehouses, office buildings, hotels, churches, libraries and medical buildings.

The shop is an AISC-certified facility at 20078 IWIP Road in Smithfield. Customers send contract or shop drawings, and the team returns approval drawings electronically to speed up turnaround and steel delivery. Projects are handled from about 10 tons up to 1,000 tons or more, with in-house project managers overseeing each job from start to finish. Smaller customers can also order precut or burned plate steel from the warehouse, and the company offers quotes through its contact form.
