Cleveland Community College

Cleveland Community College is a community college in Shelby, North Carolina, offering associate degrees, diplomas, certificates and non-degree continuing education. Among its programs is the Electrical Lineworker Academy, a 10-week intensive course that prepares students for entry-level work with utility companies, electrical contractors, telecom firms and cell tower companies. Students earn credentials along the way, including a CDL Class A exam, pole and bucket rescue and powerline worker certificates.

The lineworker academy is a full-time program on a weekday schedule, and it starts several times a year. Applicants must be 18, hold a valid driver's license and have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a DOT physical and a CDL Class A permit. The college also runs adult high school, dual enrollment and English as a Second Language programs, and some degrees can be completed fully online through CCC Online.
