Kohr's Frozen Custard is a boardwalk institution known for soft frozen custard served in napkin-wrapped cones, along with hard ice cream and a long list of flavors. The company says the soft-serve custard is made with 10 percent milk fat and the hard ice cream with 14 percent. Fresh-squeezed orangeades and milkshakes are also on the menu.
Kohr's has several stands along the Boardwalk in Seaside Heights, including locations on Casino Pier and at the north end of town, plus stands in Seaside Park, Lavallette and Ortley Beach. Its founder, Elton D. Kohr, started the company in York, Pennsylvania, and the Seaside Heights stand has been serving custard since 1923.
