Monk's Steamer Bar

Monk's Steamer Bar is a no-frills dive restaurant and oyster joint in Gulf Gate, known for oysters shucked right in front of you at the bar. The baked Monkafellers are the house favorite, alongside snow crab legs, peel-and-eat shrimp, Cajun crawfish and a combo platter of crab, mussels, clams and crawfish.

There is no kitchen wait for the raw bar, and the bar runs 16 TVs with every NHL game. Flip-flops are welcome, and the front patio is a popular spot. Monk's sits on Superior Avenue, a few minutes from Siesta Key Beach. Oysters arrive from Louisiana and Texas three times a week.
