La Colmena is a community-owned site in Santa Ana where neighbors grow food and start small cooperative businesses. Its urban farm sits alongside three co-op spaces: Duugich Art, La Milpa Cafe and S.A.L.S.A. The project was built by residents with help from THRIVE Santa Ana and Cooperacion Santa Ana, and it aims to give residents a shared stake in their neighborhood's future.
Each space keeps its own schedule. The cafe and the art space are open Thursday through Sunday, and S.A.L.S.A. is open Thursday through Saturday, so check before you go. The site also hosts community-led events, and people can reach out through its contact page with questions or to get involved. It is on West Walnut Street in Santa Ana.
