Icicles

Icicles makes rolled ice cream, poured onto a frozen pan, chopped and scraped into rolls while guests watch. The menu runs to roughly two dozen flavors, including Oreo Blast, Nutella N' Chill, Cereal Killer and Strawberry Fantasy, plus six non-dairy sorbet-based rolls, milkshakes and an unlimited self-serve topping bar. The shop started in Willow Glen in 2016 and has grown to eight locations across the Bay Area and Sacramento.

The San Jose shop is at 1275 Lincoln Ave. Guests can order ahead in the Icicles app or through DoorDash, and the company also rolls ice cream at events, with catering and fundraisers where a share of each cup goes to the group's cause. Weekday happy-hour pricing on select rolls runs 2 to 6 PM at the San Jose, Cupertino, Sacramento and San Francisco shops, and eGift cards are available.
