CMT San Jose - Children's Musical Theater

CMT San Jose is a children's musical theater that mounts about 11 full-scale productions a year, cast with young performers from ages 4 to 20. Its shows are staged at the Montgomery Theater in downtown San Jose, and productions are grouped by cast age, from Junior Talents for ages 7 to 10 to Mainstage shows for ages 14 to 20. The company is known for staging sophisticated, technically demanding musicals usually taken on by large regional companies, and it has received 13 grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The company offers year-round classes in dance, acting and voice, along with audition master classes, summer and winter camps, and recital classes for ages 4 to 9. Its policy is to never turn a child away for financial or physical reasons. Student matinees give young audiences affordable weekday performances. The administrative office and studio space is at the Creative Arts Center at 1545 Parkmoor Avenue, which opened in 2021.
