Yama Sushi Marketplace

Yama Sushi Marketplace is a Japanese sushi market best known for grab-and-go sushi and sashimi, prepared fresh through the day with fish the team sources as sashimi grade. The case also holds bento boxes and hot bites. Beyond the counter, the shelves stock rare Japanese snacks, artisanal sauces, and products from across Japan, from dashi soy sauce to ceremonial matcha. The store also carries Southern California's largest selection of premium sake, curated by an in-house certified kikisake-shi.

Takeout is the main way to shop here, and orders can be placed online. Catering is available, and the shop runs monthly classes led by its chefs and Japanese culture experts. Founded more than 40 years ago by Kenzo Yamada, a former fish broker known as Mr. Yama, the business is now run by the Kohno family and has three stores in San Gabriel, West LA, and Koreatown. The San Gabriel shop is on West Las Tunas Drive.
